Progress Not Perfection Counseling was founded in 2023 by Owner and Therapist, Amanda Parish. Progress Not Perfection Counseling is (virtually) located in NYS.

 

A little about my experience:

I have been working with adults in a non-profit agency in the mental health and substance abuse field for 8 years prior to opening the practice. I currently work in an intensive outpatient program with adults with mental health and/or substance abuse.  I have always been drawn to helping others and understanding how the mind works. I fell into the human services field out of high school, when I was hired at a homeless shelter, and have been in the field in various roles since, while working through college.

As a therapist, I found my passion in helping to empower others to make changes in their life using their own strengths. Substance abuse counseling has always been an interest and passion of mine, as I have family members who have a history of use. I value the times I am able to empower others to pursue their path to sobriety because I have seen how truly difficult that path is.
